A ceramics manufacturer was searching for the source of inclusions in its product.

Touchstone performed SEM/EDS analysis of samples from the fire brick, ceramic tile, nozzle, and clay tile components used in their plant. All were possible source materials for inclusions.

Working closely with the customer, it was determined that the cause of the inclusions was improperly fired tile liners used in the gating system. The problem was corrected and the inclusion problem was eliminated.
