To support cycle time reduction and creativity in R&D, testing, and problem solving capabilities, Touchstone has on-site machine shop capabilities. This allows us to rapidly create standard and customized fixtures to meet customer test requirements. Many times we have completed a customer-specified test, then modified the test fixture in a matter of hours to conduct the next phase of their test program. Test fixtures can be made to either customer specifications or designed by Touchstone.

Our state-of-the-art facility is used to support the composite tooling business as well as the R&D and test labs. It houses a large 5 axis CNC milling machine with a working envelope of 120” x 40”x 30” in the X, Y, and Z axes respectively.

Also, we have a large 5 axis Computer Numeric Controlled router which contains a working envelope of 180” x 80” x 50” in the X, Y, and Z axis. When parts are larger than the working envelope of our machines we have engineered extended holding fixtures while maintaining part accuracy.

We have machined composite parts for well over 10 years and have developed many unique ways to cut cycle times and improve part finish. In addition to our machines we also have complete 3-D model support with a host of modeling software packages as well as highly experienced design engineers. The vast areas of expertise housed at Touchstone, as well as our work and design environment, provides dynamic and flexible capability.
Customers can make changes to parts during the process and we are able to make changes in house to the 3D models, modify the tool paths using our CAM software, and be back machining in minutes to hours. This is particularly important in supporting product development cycles.
