MECHANICAL TESTING

Component Testing of X-34 Wing Subassembly

Touchstone is capable of designing and building unique testing fixtures to evaluate almost any mechanical component.

Components tested at Touchstone include, automotive control arms, radiators, condensers and trailer hitches; saw horses; fasteners such as screws, bolts and nails; as well as full scale aerospace component testing structures such as full-scale wing structures testing for the X-34 Space Plane (seen above).

Touchstone engineers and technicians are adept at placing sensors such as strain gages, capacitance gages and thermocouples onto samples at strategic locations and performing computer controlled data acquisition with various systems including LabView.
