Shear Strength of Fiber Reinforced Advanced Ceramics - ASTM C 1292

"Standard Test Method for Shear Strength of Continuous Fiber-Reinforced Advanced Ceramics at Ambient Temperatures"
ASTM C1292 covers the determination of the shear strength of continuous fiber-reinforced ceramic composites (CFCC) at ambient temperature. This method includes two separate tests.

Interlaminar shear strength is determined via compression of a double-notched specimen.

The Iosipescu shear test method is used to determine the shear strength in any one of the material planes of laminated composites.
