MECHANICAL TESTING LABORATORY

Due to the very large number of tests offered, descriptions of those most commonly requested have been gathered into the following groups:

ISO 4587 – Tensile Lap-Shear Strength of Rigid-to-Rigid Bonded Assemblies

To request a quotation for any test email info@trl.com for a prompt reply

This method is used for determining the tensile lap-shear strength of rigid-to-rigid bonded assemblies using a standard specimen under specified conditions of preparation and testing.

Adhesive lap-shear bond strength is determined in testing by stressing a single-overlap joint between rigid adherends in shear by application of a tensile force parallel to the bond area and to the major axis of the specimen.

The typical specimen thickness used for this test has a thickness of 0.2 mm. The ISO standard states that less than five specimens cannot produce reliable statistical data. The breaking force, breaking stress and failure type will be reported.

Please email info@trl.com or call (304) 547-5800 for information regarding test procedures, results, specimen information, pricing or any other ISO 4587 questions you may have.
