ASTM D3531 – Resin Flow Testing
To request a quotation for any test email info@trl.com for a prompt reply
ASTM D3531 testing covers the determination of the amount of resin flow that will take place for prepreg tape or sheet under specified temperature and pressure.
A weighed specimen, minimum size of 50 mm (2 in) square, is sandwiched between a bleeder material and release film. The sandwich is placed in a platen pressed this is heated to 120 °C, 175 °C, or another temperature specified by the customer. The press is closed to provide 700 kPa of pressure and is help until 15 minutes or the resin gels. The specimen is re-weighed.
Resin flow is used for comparative evaluation of materials and evaluation on production process design.
