Controlled Atmosphere Furnaces

Eight Inconel inserts have been manufactured which slide into muffle furnaces capable of 1200 deg C heating. They are equipped with gas inlets, as well as sampling and thermocouple ports. Touchstone also has a controlled atmosphere furnace which allows for evacuation to a vacuum before purging with a controlled atmosphere.
Annealing, Nitriding, Carburizing, hydrogen embrittlement, and carbothermal reaction studies are among some of the areas of study for which this equipment is well suited.
Carbon/Carbon Composites can be processed in these furnaces.
The controlled atmosphere furnaces can be used for heat treatment performed in numerous atmospheres inlcuding hydrogen, nitrogen, argon, ammonia, carbon dioxide, helium and various other reducing and oxidizing atmospheres.
