Touchstone has metallographically prepared many copper and copper alloy specimens from pure copper to beryllium copper.  Purposes have ranged from failure analysis of valves to quality control of electrical wiring.  These samples can be difficult to polish due to the tendency of the samples to work harden and produce oxide inclusions.  Dislodging of those inclusions can lead to scratching.

Through years of experience in dealing with copper and copper alloys, Touchstone has developed procedures to counteract the problems caused by these inclusions.  Whether simple photomicrographs of your samples are all that’s needed, or an in depth alloy study assisted by our PhD metallurgist, we are certain that the staff at Touchstone will be the answer to your copper and copper alloy metallography needs.

Touchstone is equipped to provide copper and copper alloy metallography services that encompass initial sample preparation such as cutting and mounting as well as polishing, etching, and even image analysis through the use of our stereomicroscopes, inverted light microscope, or one of several scanning electron microscopes (SEM).

Whatever your copper metallographic needs, Touchstone has the personnel and equipment necessary to provide the quality and service you require.
