Customized Environment
ASTM G85 Annex 2 (A2) – Cyclic Acidified Salt Fog (Spray) Testing
ASTM G85 Annex 2 (A2) is a cyclic corrosion test that is to be operated under wet bottom conditions for most tests. Dry bottom is recommended for some aluminum alloys and paint coatings.
Salt Solution: A sodium chloride salt solution is defined within the ASTM method.
pH Range: 2.8 – 3.0
Test Temperatures: The temperature in the exposure zone of the salt spray chamber or cabinet is to be kept constant at 49°C +/- 2°C or (120°F +/- 3°F). The temperature of the saturator tower (bubble tower) is to be kept at 57 +/- 1°C (135 +/- 2°F)
Test Cycle: ASTM G85 Annex 2 (A2) utilizes the following 6 hour repetitive cycle: ¾ hour spray; 2 hour dry-air purge; and 3 ¼ hour soak at high relative humidity.
