SEM Hot Stage
Touchstone has a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) equipped with a hot stage which allows for the heating of a sample to 1000 C while imaging inside the SEM. Touchstone has studied soldering and vacuum brazing phenomena in this apparatus.
The hot stage SEM provides a unique way to study wetting angle as well as phase changes – especially of phases too small to see in a hot stage light microscope.
Touchstone’s hot stage SEM is capable of performing various mechanical tests during heating and observation. It is also equipped with X-ray microanalysis.
